Additional Details:
Buffalo Crossing Campground is a small, rustic campground designed for campers seeking a more traditional forest camping experience. The campground offers a peaceful setting with shaded campsites and easy access to nearby forest roads, hiking opportunities, scenic drives, and excellent wildlife viewing. Elk, mule deer, wild turkey, and numerous bird species are commonly seen in the area, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.
This is a primitive campground with limited amenities. Vault toilets are typically provided, but there is no drinking water available within Buffalo Crossing Campground.
Seasonal drinking water is available nearby at both Horse Springs Campground and Diamond Rock Campground, making it convenient for campers to refill water containers during their stay.
Due to the campground's elevation of approximately 7,600 feet, visitors can enjoy cooler summer temperatures than the desert regions of Arizona. Afternoon thunderstorms are common during the summer monsoon season (July through early September), so rain gear and warm layers are recommended.
