DESCRIPTION:AZ MUDBUGS BOG TANK CRAWFISH BOIL\n📅 June 6th\, 2026 | 9am -Noon \n📍 Bog Tank Lake – Fort Apache Indian Reservation \n🎣 In partnership with the White Mountain Apache Tribe Game and Fish during their Annual Kids Fishing Derby \nJoin us for a FREE\, family-friendly educational event at beautiful Bog Tank Lake in the White Mountains of Arizona! \nThe Arizona Mudbugs\, in partnership with the White Mountain Apache Tribe Game and Fish\, will be on site during the Annual Kids Fishing Derby to demonstrate how to trap\, prepare\, and cook invasive crawfish (crawdads)—right where they’re caught. \nWe’ll be catching crawdads directly from Bog Tank Lake and preparing them on site with all the classic boil fixings—corn\, potatoes\, seasonings\, and more. \n🌱 What This Event Is About \nThis is a hands-on learning experience focused on: \n\nWhy crawfish are an invasive species in many Arizona waterways\nHow responsible harvesting helps protect fish habitat and water quality\nHow crawfish can be a sustainable\, local food resource\nSafe\, ethical methods for trapping\, cleaning\, and cooking crawfish\n\nJoin us for a FREE\, family-friendly educational event at beautiful Bog Tank Lake on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation home of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. \n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who Should Attend \n\nFamilies attending the Kids Fishing Derby\nAnyone curious about conservation\, food sustainability\, or outdoor skills\nCommunity members who want to learn something new and fun\n\n🤝 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED \n\nWe are looking for volunteers to help with:\nTrapping and handling crawfish\nCooking and food prep\nEducational demos and public engagement\nSetup\, breakdown\, and general support\n👉 No experience required — just a good attitude and willingness to help!\n👉 Great opportunity for students\, outdoor enthusiasts\, and conservation-minded folks.\n\n  \n\n✅ FREE to the public\n✅ Educational\n✅ Family-friendly\n\nCome learn\, help protect our waterways\, and enjoy a unique hands-on experience alongside an amazing community event.

DESCRIPTION:5th Annual AZ Mudbugs Crawdad Tournament & Group Boil\n\nHawley Lake – Fort Apache Indian Reservation\nJune 25th – 27th\n\nAZ Mudbugs members and friends — join us for our 5th Annual Crawdad Tournament and Group Boil! \nWe’re excited to announce our new location this year. In partnership with the White Mountain Apache Tribe Game and Fish Department\, we’ll be hosting at beautiful Hawley Lake — offering expanded camping space and more shoreline access. \nFriday Afternoon: Special Guest (TJ)Todd Joste aka the Wilderness Man\, will be teaching some basic survival skills\, such as fire making and shelter building. \n\nSaturday Community Boil\nFREE & Open to the Public\nSaturday | Noon – 3:00 PM\n\nJoin us lakeside for our group crawdad boil! Everyone is welcome — whether you’re competing in the tournament or just coming out to enjoy good food\, good company\, and beautiful Hawley Lake. \nCome hungry. Bring friends. \nTournament Details \nThe tournament is free and open to all AZ Mudbugs members and their families. \nTeam Requirements: \nTeams must include at least one AZ Mudbugs member. \nTeams may consist of: \n\nTwo adults\nOR a family team (up to two adults plus children)\n\nCatching Rules: \n\nCrawdads may be caught anywhere in Arizona.\nAll sizes are eligible.\nCrawdads must be caught during official tournament hours.\nHatchlings and egg-bearing females may be counted\, then immediately returned to the water where caught.\n\nDaily Reporting \n\nTeams must submit daily counts and photos by 9:00 PM.\nPost photos on the AZ Mudbugs page.\nSend final count to Crawdaddy Mike Eberhardt or our Crawfish Queen Liz Walburn-Blevins\n\nLicensing & Regulations \n\nAll participants must have a valid Arizona fishing license.\nParticipants must follow all Arizona Game & Fish regulations.\nThose trapping or fishing on the reservation must follow all WMAT rules and permit requirements.\n\nWinner \nThe team with the highest total count submitted by 5:00 PM Saturday wins. \nPrizes will be announced prior to the event. \nSponsored By \n\nAZ Mudbugs\nWhite Mountain Apache Tribe Game and Fish Department\nProcrayster\nKempton Chevrolet\nOptima Medical
