WMSDC was organized in 1948 and was known as the Rainbow Square Dance Club with 60 plus members. They are known as the “Rim Rompers” now. Originally without their own building, dances were held in various locations and their 1st Festival was held at the McNary School gym in July 1949. The 5 acres, they now occupy, were purchased in April 1973 and the building was constructed with countless hours of work by club members and many donations from local townspeople. The patio floor was added in 1976 and the patio roof in 1978.
