Additional Details:
Winn Campground is nestled in a beautiful mixed pine and aspen forest approximately 10 miles south of Big Lake along Arizona Highway 273. With 63 campsites, including tent sites, RV sites, and two large group camping areas, it is one of the largest and most versatile campgrounds in the White Mountains. The campground offers a quiet mountain atmosphere while remaining close to some of the area's best outdoor recreation.
Anglers will appreciate easy access to the East and West Forks of the Little Colorado River, Lee Valley Reservoir, Big Lake, and several nearby trout lakes. The area is well known for rainbow, brook, brown, cutthroat, and native Apache trout fishing. Hikers can explore trails leading into the spectacular Mount Baldy Wilderness, home to Arizona's second-highest peak and some of the state's most scenic high-country forests.
Many campsites overlook a broad mountain meadow where elk, mule deer, wild turkey, and other wildlife are frequently seen, especially during the early morning and evening hours. At an elevation of approximately 9,320 feet, visitors enjoy cool summer temperatures, crisp mountain air, and excellent opportunities for photography, birdwatching, scenic drives, and family camping. Afternoon thunderstorms are common during Arizona's summer monsoon season, so campers should be prepared for changing mountain weather.
Nearest water, dump station, and general store is at Big Lake, about 10 miles away.
Pets must always be restrained or on a leash.
