Brookchar Campground is a small, tent-only campground tucked close to the shoreline of Big Lake. Of the five campgrounds in the Big Lake complex, Brookchar is among the closest to the water, making it an appealing choice for anglers and campers who prioritize lake access over RV conveniences.
The campground has approximately 12 walk-to campsites. Campers park nearby and carry their equipment a short distance to their site. The setting is composed of mixed conifer forest, aspen and high-elevation meadows, with cool summer nights and frequent afternoon storm activity during the monsoon season.

Brookchar Campground is located in the Big Lake Recreation Area. Showers are about 1 mile away but available.
No fee camping after mid-October. Because of the high elevation be prepared for cool nighttime temperatures and expect rain, often heavy, through July and August.
A dump station, store, firewood, gas, food and boat rentals are located a short, half-mile drive away.
Pets must be restrained or on a leash.
Directions:
From Eagar: Go 5 miles west on State Route 260 turn south on State Route 261 go 29 miles to Sate Route 273, turn west go about 3 miles, Big Lake Recreational Area will be on the west side.
From Show Low, Arizona: take Highway 260 east for 42 miles to Highway 273. Take Highway 273 south for 30 miles Big Lake Recreational Area will be on the west side.
